Wild Animals in Iceland are mainly birds. Virtually no mammals, with the exception of seals and the Arctic fox, who came from Greenland during the ice age.
Regular visitors to the island are birds, including typical species found only in the tundra and the Arctic Circle. We can also find Europe’s only colony of Harlequin ducks. We can also find lots of puffins, geese of all kinds, skuas, auks, oystercatchers and around glaciers the mountain grouse.
