Most tourists after landing in Iceland, the first thing they do is carry out the formalities associated with renting a car, and as soon as possible to move away from the airport and the peninsula on which it is located. Normally in any other country I’d probably do the same. On the other hand as everything in Iceland, around the airport and the same Reykjanes peninsula are according to me interesting enough that it is worth “sacrifice” half a day on a tour to go and see  eider dacks nesting places, the bridge between two continents (between tectonic plates of Eurasia and  North America), lava fields, the Atlantic coast, cliffs and rocks where birds nest, a geologically active places (where you can see the smell and appearance of sulfur), turquoise waters of lakes such as Kleifarvatn. All this and more can be seen also in this gallery.
