Most guides proposes first meeting with Iceland nature in the so-called Golden Circle. It is a few hours drive through the closest places to the capital, of which Iceland is famous for. As part of the tour includes, among others visit in Thingvellir National Park, Gullfoss waterfall, geothermal Haukadalur valley with the famous geyser Strokkur and Geysir (hence the name).
Thingvellir was a meeting place of the Vikings at the annual meeting called the Althing (930 A.D.). There is a gorge and waterfall Oxafoss. This gorge himself stretching for many kilometers, it’s the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is worth spending a little time and visit this area, read the history of the Vikings and their way of solving disputes. In the park you will also find the largest natural lake in Iceland called Pingvallavatn.
Not far from the park is the valley Haukadalur, where you can enjoy Strokkur geyser erupting regularly, and that from which all other or take their name from Geysir (unfortunately after the recent earthquakes it erupts very rare).
The crowning achievement of the loop is a the waterfall Gullfoss, the size of which commands respect. All these wonders can be seen in this gallery.
